Many claim that the actress had a chance at surviving had she not been wearing her jacket. They found her body about a mile south of the yacht, close to the cove, Blue Cavern Point. Wood was wearing knee-length socks, a nightgown and a down-filled jacket on top of it all. Even 24 hours later during her examination, the clothes were still soaked. They estimated the wool jacket added 30 or 40 pounds of saturated weight.
