In 2013, former captain Dennis Davern spoke with 48 Hours and The Today Show, claiming he lied to the authorities when first questioned about the night. Now, he’s blaming Robert Wagner, who still proclaims his innocence. Even Lana Wood, Natalie’s surviving sister, spoke with author Suzanne Finstand, claiming Davern called her after the mysterious death one night while drunk to confess Wagner’s involvement in Natalie’s death.

Lana went on to say the following, which is in the 2001 book titled, Natasha: The Biography of Natalie Wood:
“He said it appeared to him as though [Wagner] shoved her away and she went overboard. Dennis panicked and [Wagner] said, ‘Leave her there. Teach her a lesson.’ Dennis said he was very panicky, that he was sitting and [Wagner] kept drinking and kept drinking.”
