All Of The Castle Interiors Are Actually One Castle.

Hard to believe considering there are a lot of castle shots, these were all filmed in only one castle and outside another thanks to the National Trust. Just two weeks pre-production, after Gilliam and Jones had already secured sites across Scotland, the Trust banned their shoots from the sites citing that they would not respect the “dignity” of the buildings… where people were torture and disemboweled…makes sense. One of the scenes with Camelot’s wide-angle shots were actually of a castle cutout only 12 feet high. Movie magic.
