“The father of modern Jordan” is what King Hussein, father of King Abdullah II, became known as. It was in 1952 that he officially became the king of Jordan, at the ripe young age of 16. During the time that it took him to become legally of eligible age, a Regency Council was set up to manage the kingdom.
