Benicio Del Toro – Star Trek: Into Darkness
Benicio Del Toro was the fist choice to play Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness. He decided to pass on the role and accepted a small role as The Collector in Thor: The Dark World instead. Benedict Cumberbatch took the role of Khan instead, and the film ended up becoming the highest grossing Star Trek film of all time, making over $467 million around the world.
James Franco – Spider-Man
While James Franco ended up playing Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man film series that started in 2002, he actually wanted to play the lead of Spider-Man instead. He got pretty far in the audition process but the role went to Tobey Maguire instead. Franco’s talent was still recognized, which is why he was offered the role of Harry instead.
