Reopening The Case
However, in 2011, the case was reopened by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau after new witnesses decided to step forward. After Davern stepped forward with his updated version of the story, people began to grow more suspicious, and 700 people, Davern included, signed a petition saying the original investigation wasn’t satisfactory. Most people suspected that Wagner was directly involved. Following this, the wording on her death report was changed from “accidental drowning” to “Drowning and other undetermined factors.” In 2018, four decades after he death, Wagner was officially named a person of interest.
Moving On Again
By February 1982, Wagner had already moved on, which is less than three months after his wife’s death. He was then linked to Jill St. John, a Bond girl who starred in Diamonds are Forever. They were together for 8 years before making things official and getting married in 1990. They have been together ever since. Though he continued his acting career, it was certainly impacted by the mystery of Wood’s death.
