At this point in their marriage, the roles had become reversed, with Wagner’s career being at its strong point, and Natalie’s career waning. In 1981, he got the lead role in TV show Hart to Hart, which he starred in along with Stefanie Powers. Their on-screen chemistry was so convincing, some people began to raise an eyebrow, including Natalie herself. Things didn’t improve when she decided to surprise him on set, and she happened to arrive while he and Powers were filming a love scene.

Just as these rumors about Wagner and Powers began to swirl, Natalie managed to land a role in Brainstorm, a sci-fi film opposite Christopher Walken, who had just won an Oscar for his performance in The Deer Hunter. It seemed like instantly, Wood was infatuated with her co-star, and Lana herself corroborated this.
