Underwater
Most of the submarine (underwater) footage is from the movies The Hunt for Red October and Crimson Tide. What’s most interesting is that the series almost exclusively uses the F-14 Tomcat aircraft, in the last video portion of the opening credits, while the aircraft performs maneuvers that are clearly an F/A Hornet, or Super Hornet, just like the Navy Blue Angels fly.

Similar to Law & Order, the plots for JAG in most episodes were often “ripped from the headlines” with much of the plot resembling or referencing recognizable parts of real cases or incidents. Including the USS Cole bombing, the rescue of the downed pilot Scott O’Grady, the Cavalese cable car disaster, the USS Iowa turret explosion, and the Kelly Flinn incident.
