Jake Gyllenhaal portrayed Dr. Johnny Wilcox in the film Okja, in a performance that Vulture’s Kyle Buchanan said was “so flamboyant, you can see it from space.” While that’s not a bad thing, some people felt that his portrayal, even though well done, seemed out of place in the film, which just felt very disjointed.

Scarlett Johansson as Dante “Tex” Gill – Rub & Tug
When TV show Rub & Tug was initially announced, Scarlett Johansson was chosen to play Dante Tex Gill, a trans man. The casting choice was immediately criticized by many who questioned why a trans man would be played by a cis-women when there are a lot of trans actors who could play the role instead. Johansson ended up dropping out of the role, and trans actress Our Lady J will take on the role instead.
