Originally, the show was to be called The Hillbillies of Beverly Hills, but that seemed drawn out. The Beverly Hillbillies worked much better. However, the initial name appears in the pilot episode!

When you think of a famous cowboy, you think of John Wayne. He appeared in the fifth season as a cameo for “The Indians Are Coming” episode. The rumor going around is that Wayne was paid with a fifth of bourbon for the appearance.
