This was not true, as Irene was actually 31 years older than Donna Douglas. The cast thought the rumors were quite hilarious.

The story behind the mansion is quite interesting: the original owner, Arnold Kirkeby, died in a plane crash before the show started to film. His window was okay with it being used for the show, as long as the address was not publicized. Unfortunately, fans figured it out and showed up in huge groups to get a closer look at it.
