Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the First Deputy Prime Minister of the nation and also the youngest defense minister in the world! Many are celebrating the Prince’s policies that extend even further than allowing women to drive. In February 2018, the law changed for women in Saudi Arabia, giving them the right to own their own business, without the permission of a male. In addition, Prince bin Salman has initiated quite the entertainment authority that has hosted everything from monster truck rallies and pro wrestling shows to comedy shows. He’s also spoken of having ‘green cards’ for non-Saudi foreigners.

The Prince is at the forefront of modernization in a country known for its absolute monarchy and conservative religious authority. His bold plan is called Vision 2030. He hopes to wean Saudi Arabia off of its oil dependency and open the nation to tourism. He said, “I’m young. 70% of our citizens are young. We don’t want to waste our lives in this whirlpool that we were in the past 30 years. We want to end this epoch now. We want, as the Saudi people, to enjoy the coming days, and concentrate on developing our society and developing ourselves as individuals and families, while retaining our religion and customs. We will not continue to be in the post-’79 era. That age is over.”
