John Madden was a football coach and commentator. He was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders starting from 1969 until 1978, leading them to their first Super Bowl title. He never had a losing season throughout his career. He was the color commentator for NFL telecasts from 1979 until 2008, winning 16 Sports Emmy Awards for this work. He also lent his expertise, commentary, and name to the Madden NFL video game series.
