In the Grace and Frankie show, Sam starred as Jane Fonda’s love interest. Both Sam and Jane were given the opportunity to say what they felt for each other, but they were not together when making the remarks. The two admitted to having feelings for each other for many years.

The first to speak was Sam Elliott who pointed out that he didn’t know Jane personally. He said that he has only ever loved her from a distance, noting that she is beautiful both inside and out. “I had never worked with Jane. I knew her from back in the days when she was with Ted Turner (her third husband). I didn’t know her personally…only loved her from afar over the course of her career.” He even added, “[in Klute] she was so beautiful, and Jane’s a beautiful woman today, inside and out.”
