After graduating from David Douglas High School in Portland, Oregon, Sam attended the Clark College in Vancouver, Washington for a two-year program. While at Clark College, he starred as the lead in a small production called Guys and Dolls and this was the start of his acting career. He was further encouraged to pursue his dream by a journalist in the audience who wrote a raving review on his performance.
