In 2009, Forbes named Queen Rania of Jordan one of the most powerful women. She said, “It’s an honour and a privilege to have that chance to make a difference.” She founded the Jordan River Foundation in order to help women and children in her country. As part of her work, she meets with kids across Jordan. Once she joked that many of the kids leave disappointed when they meet her and see she isn’t adorned with a crown.

Children’s Author
Besides her royal duties and humanitarian work, Queen Rania is also a celebrated children’s author. She’s published four books so far. Her book, The Sandwich Swap is a New York Times bestseller. The books are inspired by her own childhood experiences. All of the proceeds from her work have gone to improving education for children in Jordan through an education initiative called Madrasati Jordan.
