Alexander Ludwig did a great job as Cato in The Hunger Games, but he actually first auditioned for the role of Peeta Mellark. While he didn’t get his first choice, he said: “It’s fun playing the bad guy once in a while. I got to really experiment with a side of me that I’ve never seen before.”

Eddie Redmayne – Harry Potter
While Eddie Redmayne is now known for playing Newt Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them series, he actually first auditioned to be in the Harry Potter film franchise first. He auditioned to play Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He said: “I properly failed and didn’t get a callback.” He finally joined the Wizarding World when he got the role of Newt.
