A Personal Tragedy
Before he married McEnery, and while he was still with Boyd, he engaged in an affair with model Lory Del Santo. She ended up getting pregnant and later gave birth to her and Clapton’s son Conor in 1986. In 1991, Connor fell out of an open bedroom window of their 53rd floor apartment building and fell to his death.

The Song He Wrote For Him
Clapton was absolutely devastated to lose his infant son, and he ended up writing the song “Tears in Heaven” for him. In an interview with 60 Minutes, Clapton said that he saw his son a day before the tragedy occurred. He shared: “When he was born, I was drinking, and he was really the chief reason that I went back to treatment, because I really did love this boy.”
