Who remembers what Emma Stone’s character Hannah identified as an overused dating trick? Yes, we’re talking about when Ryan Gosling’s character tried that Dirty Dancing move on her and lifted her at his place. So, that was never in the script. Apparently, a lot of the stuff from that scene was improvised by Gosling and Stone. Gosling explained where it came from, saying, “Well when I go out dancing with my friends and we get drunk, we try and do the Dirty Dancing lift. That’s where it came from and it seemed like a good idea at the time.”

Not many actors would go this far during an improvised scene. In 50/50, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character has cancer and in one scene, he just shaved all his hair off with an electric razor. Seth Rogen later revealed that the script never called for any head shaving, but they thought of it while filming. The whole thing happened in one take, and Rogen’s shocked face is clearly genuine.
