To say that Damian Aspinall is an animal lover is an understatement. His now-wife Victoria knew that even before she married him. It was no surprise that he wanted Victoria to meet the gorilla he helped raise. He didn’t expect what happened though.

Damian spent a lot of his childhood surrounded by animals. Not your average pets though, but exotic animals. His father helped launch Howletts Wild Animal Park in 1957, so Damian had access to the 700-acre estate where many large exotic animals lived.

When he was a child, the gorillas were like his family. One day he was stuck in a tree and a female came to his rescue. She even wiped his tears. He wanted his wife to see gorillas for the kind creatures they are.
