Bellisario and the CBS President Les Moonves both “cast Catherine Bell, and [Bellisario] never heard another word from [Moonves] – who took great delight in the fact that it was part of the building block that started the CBS turnaround”. That’s interesting.

After Bellisario’s series Quantum Leap was cancelled, he began to work on a new project. One that involved a murder mystery aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. The victim was a female aviator. It was while working on this project that the idea for JAG was sparked.
