Sofia Coppola as Mary Corleone – The Godfather: Part III
The character of Mary Corleone was originally meant to be played by actress Rebecca Shaeffer, but she was tragically murdered. Winona Ryder was meant to take over the role, but she felt that she was too exhausted to take on the role after filming three other films back to back. The role ultimately went to Sofia Coppola, Francis Ford Coppola’s daughter, a choice that was heavily criticized since a lot of people didn’t think it was a good perforamance.
George Clooney as Batman – Batman and Robin
In 1997, it was announced that George Clooney would be replacing Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne, and many were not please about this. In fact, even Clooney realized it was a mistake. In an interview on The Graham Norton Show, he said: “I constantly apologize for Batman & Robin. I actually thought I destroyed the franchise until somebody else brought it back years later and changed it. I thought at the time, ‘This is going to be a very good career move.’ It wasn’t.”
