Turns out, it paid off. She met Sonny back in 1962 and began working as his housekeeper. From there, the two bonded and she sung backup for him. Okay, so we all know that this led to her own stardom and music career. The rest is history.

Despite not being a self-proclaimed groupie, this bass guitarist became an iconic groupie once she sat for the Rolling Stone groupies issue. Trixie Merkin, a stage name she used, showed up topless. Thus sealing herself into the rock history books. This iconic image only helped rumors persist that she performed topless. Yet, this was proven false. Years later, she’s still playing music for bands like Monkey Siren and Mister Sister.
