When most people think of America, their minds very quickly turns to fast food. It’s no secret that America’s most popular export to the world are fast food chains like McDonald’s, Burger King, and KFC (to name a few), but there have been many more fast food chains that did not stand the test of time. In the 1950’s, fast food joints sold burgers for 15 cents and many featured a drive in. Sadly, over time the industry changed and many of these chains did not make it long-term. Here are some of the most iconic fast food joints that are no longer around.
Burger Queen
The female counterpart to Burger King opened in 1956 and lasted up until 1991. In 1981, the restaurant rebranded to be called Druther’s but continued to serve up its classic burgers, fried chicken, and salads. In 1991, Dairy Queen bought out most of its franchises and converted them into DQ restuarants.

Beefsteak Charlie’s
Beefsteak Charlie’s was founded as a franchise in 1976 and made it all the way up to 2009. It first opened in 1910 as a standalone restaurant with a racehorse theme. It was franchised in 1976 and served up their classic beefsteak sandwiches and had a featured all-you-can-eat salad bar as well as bottomless beer and wine. Its last location shuttered in 2009.
