A Different Time
The main difference between Dean Martin’s Hollywood and the Hollywood of today is the fact that the treatment of women in the industry is no longer ignored. Due to the rise of the #MeToo movement, Deana Martin received questions about her father and his behavior back in the day. She said that perhaps he and his friends could have “gotten away with it” because “I think they would have only because they were so cute at it, they were cool…” However, soon enough she was singing a different tune.

After Deana said that he was “just being cute,” she paused and then thought about the whole situation. She changed her mind and said that they were “being cute” in order to defend their behavior of the harassment culture in the entertainment industry. She then decided to change her initial answer.
