Dan Marino had a very successful career in the NFL playing for the Miami Dolphins. Once he retired, he became a sports analyst and sportscaster, only adding on to his large fortune. Despite all of this, several bad investments, including in hologram company Digital Domain (that wen broke), ended up costing Marino $14 million.

Eric Djemba-Djemba made a whopping $800,000 per month while playing for Manchester United in the early 2000’s. Once his playing began to decline, he was traded to Aston Villa, and he also declared bankruptcy. His agent said: “Eric is on a different planet. He simply has no notion of money. At one point, he had 30 different bank accounts. He was juggling between credits.”
