Max Baer Jr. dreamed of the idea of opening up a chain of hotels, restaurants, and casinos all Beverly Hillbillies themed. He even bought the rights to open these businesses, but they never came to fruition after many logistical disputes.
Incredible Ratings
Despite the fact that critics panned the series, it went on to have amazing ratings. For example, between 1962 and 1964, the show averaged about 57 million viewers. That was during a time when there were about 190 million people total in the United States, so 1/3 of the population was tuning in.
