Too Many Dakotas
One user asked why there are two Dakotas, which truly is a mystery to many people. The fact of the matter is that the area of South Dakota was waiting for statehood while the federal government focused on developing the northern part of the area. Tension grew between the inhabitants of the north and the south of the Dakota area, and so it was decided that the two areas would become separate states.

Germans get 60 weeks of paid leave, while other countries offer even more than that. It seems truly unusual that this is not the norm in the United States as well.
