Despite being named a person of interest now, Robert Wagner refused to speak to the press. He was officially named of interest February 1, 2018. At the time, the authorities guessed that Natalie Wood may have been trying to leave the yacht on the dinghy and accidentally fallen into the ocean. For years, Wagner insisted on his innocence. The last time authorities spoke with Wagner was in late 2012.

Lana Wood, Natalie’s sister, wrote her own memoir in 1984 called Natalie. In it she even wrote about Wood’s affection for Christopher Walken. Lana wrote, “I don’t know if Natalie’s [love affair] with Chris was imaginary or real, though my strong suspicion is that it was all in her mind and that perhaps she was only wishing it to be so.”
