Back in 1995, the world fell in love with the movie, Jumanji. It was full of adventure and heart warming moments and come on, that cast was amazing. Like all good things we feel nostalgic for, Hollywood decided to bring it back. Yes, in December of 2017, the sequel, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released.
Fun fact, this second installment of the Jumanji series is actually based on a children’s book from 1981. Written by Chris Van Allsburg, the book served as the inspiration for the film with Robin Williams. Actually, this new 2017 Jumanji film is not only a sequel to the 1995 Jumanji, but a tribute to Williams.
Original Jumanji
Let’s recap the original Jumanji film for you a bit… Well, the character Alan Parrish got trapped in a board game when he was playing with a friend named Sarah way back in 1969. Fast forward 26 years, Judy and her brother Peter are playing the game and somehow release Alan. Thus, ensuing them on a quest to find Sarah and then finish the game to end all the destruction and chaos. Also who could forget the adorable Kirsten Dunst? Oh and Bonnie Hunt and the hilarious Robin Williams! RIP, Robin Williams.
Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle
For this film, the story begins 21 years after the 1995 Jumanji movie. When four teens are miraculously transported into a video game virtual reality of Jumanji, they play as their chosen characters. Also then unite with another Jumanji player to defeat the game’s magic so they can return home.

Now, the new film stars Dwayne Johnson, aka Dwayne the Rock Johnson, alongside with Nick Jonas, yes from The Jonas Brothers, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan, known for her role in Doctor Who. Everyone has praised the film, so if you haven’t seen it, make sure to get on that!
