Everyone falls victim to becoming a hangry monster from time to time, but it’s always tough to deal with grumpy kids who are in need of a snack. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep some easy and quick to make snacks ready to go so that you can nip it in the bud before kids become a handful due to hunger. Best of all, these require minimal ingredients and barely any prep time, so they’re perfect for hangry parents too!
Mixed Berry Smoothie
For a delicious and satisfying sweet treat, blend together frozen mixed berries, greek yogurt, a bit of milk, and ice. Blend until it is completely smooth and serve up. That’s it!
Carrot Fries
These could not be any easier to make and are so delicious. Cut peeled carrots into fry shapes and then toss olive oil, paprika, parlsey, and salt and pepper, evenly coating the fries. Put on a baking sheet and bake in an oven that was preheated to 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes, rotating halfway through. Let them cool and then dip into your favorite dips.
Broccoli Tots
Make these ahead and keep them on hand to give your kids a sneaky way to eat broccoli. Boil broccoli in salted water then remove from the water. Mix together the broccoli with scallions, cheddar cheese, an egg, and some bread crumbs. Let the mixture chill in the fridge for 20 minutes, and then shape the batter into tot shapes and place on a baking sheet. Place in an oven that’s been preheated to 400 degrees and cook for 8-9 minutes, rotating halfway through. Enjoy!
Baked Apple Chips
These are an amazing alternative to chips or candy. Slice up some apples and toss with cinnamon, then bake them in an oven that’s been preheated to 250 degrees. 40 minutes should do the trick, but they’re ready when they’re just golden brown. Make sure to let them cool completely before enjoying these crispy sweet chips.
Frozen Yogurt Fruit Cups
These are so easy to make and are a great way to have your kids think that they’re eating a treat that’s secretly good for them. Simply grab a silicone peanut butter cup tray and fill it up with your preferred yogurt, we recommend vanilla Greek yogurt for extra protein and yummy flavor, top it with berries or any other fruit you have on hand (keep in mind that they need to freeze well) and toss them in the freezer. Once they’ve firmed up, you have an amazing cold treat to give to your kids anytime they start nagging for candy.
