For seven seasons, we watched the Scooby Gang slay vampires, demons, and other nightmarish forces of darkness. Millions of fans tuned in week after week, and thanks to re-runs, it’s still considered one of the greatest television shows of all time. The “Buffyverse” followed a group of friends who overcome numerous challenges but what’s most noteworthy is the show’s main star, Buffy, the ultimate feminist who kicks butt and takes names before you can even say, “Vampire Slayers.” It’s been 20 years since the show went off air (and I’m still heart broken here!) so we decided to catch up the cast to see what they’ve been up to since their slayin’ days.
Buffy Summers a.k.a. Sarah Michelle Gellar
It wouldn’t be right to start off such a list without the one and only, the Chosen One: Buffy Summers a.k.a. Sarah Michelle Gellar. Gellar’s portrayal of Buffy earned her five Teen Choice Awards, a Saturn Award, and a Golden Globe Award nomination – moreover her character became one of the 100 greatest female characters in U.S. television history. Since her Mr. Pointy days, she’s starred in quite a slasher films and is married to Freddie Prinze Jr. with whom she has two children. In 2015, Gellar also co-founded Foodstirs, a startup for food crafting and e-commerce that sells baking kits for children.
Willow Rosenberg a.k.a. Alyson Hannigan
If we’re going to talk about Buffy, then it’s only right that up next is her BFF, the bad a** witch Willow Rosenberg a.k.a. Alyson Hannigan. If there’s one thing that Hannigan can do better than anyone else is to take on a reoccurring role and fashion it to unbreakable-lovable-admirable levels, with roles like Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie film series and as Lily Aldrin on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother; it’s quite clear what we mean. Hannigan is married to Buffy turned Angel co-star Alexis Denisof with whom she has two children.
