Thanks to CBS, Harrison Ford took his rightful place in history as Indiana Jones. The role was initially offered to Tom Selleck but due to conflicting issues with CBS and his series, Magnum P.I., he turned it down. In fact, George Lucas originally didn’t even want to cast our boy Harrison Ford because he’d already starred in two of Lucas’ films. Worked out in the end, eh?

The idea for Indy’s costume, the whole classic leather jacket with a fedora and whip, actually was chosen well before the filming even began. Its inspiration come from old serials (short films) that ran during the 30’s.
